Polar Data Forum IV

From the organizing committee of the Polar data Forum IV we have received this information:

We are pleased to announce that Polar Data Forum IV will be co-hosted online by the Royal Belgian institute of Natural Sciences and the European Polar Board (EPB) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) in The Hague (NL) from September 20th to 24th, 2021. This event will be co-organized with the Second Southern Ocean Regional Workshop for the UN Ocean Decade and Hackathon and focus on the polar oceans.

A short course on Reproducible Research Techniques for Synthesis

The National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) together with DataOne is arranging a short course in Reproducible Research Techniques for Synthesis. The course focus on the importance of metadata, software development (R and Git) and communication of results.

CODATA is arranging a webinar on (extracted from the CODATA invitation email) why we need to embrace development and use of data management plans (DMP) to guarantee production and supply of quality data. The importance and value  of a DMP are in its use as an instrument for the following: capturing quality metadata and data; implementing data policies; complying with funders and publishers requirements; preventing occurrence of data disasters;  enabling research collaboration; supporting open science and citizen science; and enhancing research careers.
